You will create a web brochure for a vacation plan.
Imagine that you are a travel agent or tour guide. Pick a destination, and create a minimum three page website with the following information:
What is the destination (you choose)? (10 points)
What are the departure and return dates (you choose)?
What are the flight details? We need dates, times, airline, and cost. (10 points)
What does this place look like? We will need some pictures. (10 points)
We need a map showing the destination. The map should be embedded from google. (10 points)
What are some sites with information about this place? Have live links. (10 points)
Why do we want to go to this place? Write up a good explanation. Do not steal it, write it yourself. (10 points)
What can we see at this place? List at least four attractions, and why they are interesting. (10 points). This will require you to do a little bit of searching.
Where will we stay? Pictures? Cost? Get us complete hotel information. (10 points) You can use pictures from any source.
Don't forget to have some information about yourself. Put this on a separate page called "Contact Us". If your site has no name on it, you will not get credit.
Your site should have at least three pages. But you can have as many as you like. (20 points). For example, you could have pages called "Visit Antartica", "Itinerary", "What to see in Antartica", and "Contact Us".
No two people can do the same location. If two people choose the same location, email me at my gmail address (jim.pickrell@gmail.com) to let me know what it is, and the first one who emails a particular location, gets to keep it, while the other person will have to choose a new location. Best to just email me as soon as you choose a location. Then you know you are safe.
The website should be uploaded into a folder with your name on it, on the Brand X web server. If you do not upload your pages, you will not get credit.
The last day of class we will look at these projects and grade them. You will receive 50 points for participating in the grading of these assignments.
You will also get up to 50 points for the rough version of your site, due the second to last class before the final. This means we will have two classes to review in improve and fix your project BEFORE the final. This also means that nobody will be staying up all night during finals week working on their project. You will already have your project done and will only need to make minor improvements.
If you do not have all parts of the assignement ready one week before the final you will lose these points. This means it is very much to your advantage to turn in your assignment 1 week early. You can still clean it up before the final day.
Grades will be turned in immediately after the final. I do this every quarter. I fill out the grades, walk them over to the administration building, and turn them in. The next day, I go on vacation. This means, no late assignments because the grades will already be turned in and I will have left town. If for some reason you cannot come to the final be sure to turn in your assignment early.
